Reconnecting with the Qur’an: How?

Relationship with the Qur’an

Allah Almighty has granted His Prophets and Messengers miracles, but these miracles have gone with their death. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last Prophet to all mankind, and Allah Almighty has granted him a timeless and living miracle, that is the Glorious Qur’an.

Sheikh Shams Ad-Duha explains the Muslims’ relationship with the Qur’an nowadays. The best Muslim may maintain reciting the Qur’an on a daily basis, but the Qur’an was not revealed for such purpose. All we do with the Word of Allah is that we just recite or listen to it, but we do not even reflect upon its meanings. Then he narrates the following hadith:

Ibn Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Since our acceptance of Islam and the revelation of this verse in which Allah has shown annoyance to us:” Has not the time yet come for the believers that their hearts should be humble for the remembrance of Allah?” (Al-Hadid 75: 16), there was a gap of four years.” (Muslim)
