Virtues of Reciting Qur’an
There are many verses in the Qur’an and hadiths in the Sunnah as well that prove the great rewards of reciting and pondering over the verses of the Qur’an. For example, in the Qur’an, we read:
Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish. That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.(Fatir 25:29-30)
Here is another verse,
And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss. (Al-Isra’ 17:82)
In the Sunnah, we also read:
Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, “Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim)
In another hadith, `A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward.” (Agreed-upon)
