What Inspirational Lessons Can We Learn from the Qur’an?

Since its revelation, the Qur’an has been a source of guidance, inspiration and a flourishing source of moral and social approach for millions of people throughout the world who deeply believe that it is the immutable the word of Allah. The major themes of the Qur’an include the Oneness of Allah, the purpose of existence, social values, creation, morality, the Hereafter and its significance. Though, the Qur’an emphasizes the importance of reason and understanding, it causes one to go deeply and reflect on the implied meaning of the verses. The Qur’an fulfills our hearts, souls, and minds.

Almighty Allah says:

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction. (An-Nisaa’ 2:82)

In another verse:

[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. (Saad 38:29)

In this regard, Mufti Menk gives some inspirational lessons from the glorious Qur’an that have great and precious role on the life of the Muslim. He begins this talk by reflecting on the following verse from Surat Al-Furqan:

And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty. (Al-Furqan 25:68)

One must believe that there is only one God who is worthy of worshiping and this is the message of all Prophets over history. The fact that Islam is the fastest growing religion today could be noticed in the stories of new Muslims who convert to Islam on a daily basis. Most of them say that that this direct connection with God is unique and they can communicate with God without mediation. Mufti Menk also emphasizes  the importance of repentance and how it erases sins on condition that it is made with sincere intention and followed by good deeds. Allah changes his/her evil deeds to good deeds out of His mercy.

Enjoy watching this interesting talk to get some precious inspirational lessons from the Qur’an.
