Correct Your Recitation (99)

Recitation of the Qur’an

Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Muhammad recites from the verse 13 of Surat Al-Haqqah (The 69th Chapter of the Qur’an with 52 verses that was revealed in Makkah) to verse 35.

As mentioned in the previous episode, the word ‘Al-Haqqah’ means the inevitable or the ultimate fact and it is one of the names of the Day of Judgement.

In today’s episode, Sheikh Muhammad continues his explanation of the verses which shed some light on the events and stages of the Hereafter. Al-Miqdad, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: ‘On the Day of Judgement, the sun will be drawn near the servants, until it has come a mile or two (away).'” Sulaim bin `Amir said: ” I do not know if it is miles that refer to distance on the land, or Al-Mil which is used to apply Kuhl for the eyes.” He (peace be upon him) said: “The sun will melt them, until they will be in sweat according to their deeds. Among them one will be covered up to his ankles, and among them will be one who is covered up to his knees, and among them will be one who is covered up to his waist, and among them will be one who is bridled with it.’ I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) indicating with his hand toward his mouth, meaning that one would be bridled with it.'” (Al-Bukhari)

Then Sheikh Muhammad explains two new characteristics of the letters which are softness (Al-Lin) and drifting (Al-‘Inhraf).
