Learn to Correct Your Recitation of the Qur’an
Almighty Allah says:
…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)
In another verse:
Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)
Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First, Sheikh Muhammad Salah recites from verse number thirteen of Surat Al-Mulk (the Sovereignty) to verse number twenty four.
These verses explain the mercy and gentleness of Almighty Allah in dealing with His creatures. Allah is able to punish His disobedient servants and disbelievers, yet He pardons, forgives, and gives respite for an appointed time without hastening. We are not strutting about on this earth by our own will and power. We are under His protection for each moment of our life. Otherwise, Allah at any moment may cause such an earthquake to occur as may make this earth to become our grave instead of the cradle that it is, or may cause a windstorm to blow razing all our towns and settlements to the ground.
As usual Dr. Muhammad begins his talk by reflecting on the recited verses of Surat Al-Mulk. He mentions some of the great lessons to be learnt from these verses such as:
1- Allah Almighty is the only Creator.
2- Allah has made the whole universe subservient to man.
Then, Dr. Muhammad talks about the case of provision (rizq). Imam Al-Ghazali explains that the Name of Allah, The Provider (Al-Razzaq), means “the One who has created provision and those provided for, and He has conveyed that provision to them. And He has created the means whereby they may enjoy and benefit from these blessings.”
Sheikh Muhammad then explains some new rules of tajweed, which are the characteristics of the letters.
