Correct Your Recitation (88)

Learn to Correct Your Recitation of the Qur’an

Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites from the beginning of surat Al-Mulk (the Sovereignty) to the verse number fourteen.
Surat Al-Mulk is the 67th chapter of the Qur’an that was revealed in Makkah at the beginning of the mission. It consists of thirty verses.
Virtues of Surat Al-Mulk
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, “There is a Surah in the Qur’an which contains thirty verses which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is ‘Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.’ (Surat Al-Mulk).” (At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud)

It was narrated that Ibn Mas`ud said: “Whoever reads Tabarak al ladhi bi yadihi Al-Mulk [i.e., Surat Al-Mulk] every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave. At the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we used to call it Al-Mani`ah (that which protects). (Al-Nassa’i)
In this episode, Dr. Muhammad Salah reflects on the last three chapters of the Qur’an which are known as Al-Mu`widhat (chapters of Refuge).

Surat Al-Ikhlas (the Sincerity) is the 112th chapter of the Qur’an with four verses. It was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) during the early days of Islam when the Muslims were still living in Makkah. It is the third shortest surah in the Qur’an after surat Al-Kawthar and surat Al-`Asr. The surah affirms the purity of faith and sincerity in worshiping Allah alone. This short surah is equivalent in virtue to one third of the Qur’an. It is also recommended to recite it after each prayer and before going to sleep at night.

`A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated, “Whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over it after reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face and front of his body. He used to do that three times.” (Al-Bukhari)
Enjoy watching this interesting talk with Dr. Muhammad Salah to learn more about the last three chapter of the Qur’an.
