Correct Your Recitation (78)

learn how to correct your recitation of the Book of Allah

Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites the full surah of Ash-Sharh (the Relief) and Surat At-Tin (the Fig). Surat Ash-Sharh is the 94th chapter of the Qur’an with eight verses. It is one of the first surahs that were revealed in Makkah during the early days of prophethood. It was revealed after surat Ad-Duha. The main theme of the surah is to remove the anxiety and distress that caused to the Prophet (peace be upon him) by the suspension of revelation. Surat At-Tin is the 95th chapter of the Qur’an with eight verses. It was also revealed in Makkah. It reminds people with the great blessings of Allah.

As usual Dr. Muhammad Salah begins his talk by reflecting on the verses of the surahs to ease their understanding for viewers. After that, Dr. Muhammad explains some new rules of tajweed (rulings of recitation) regarding madd (lengthening). The separate madd occurs when a hamzah follows a madd letter in two separate words. It should be lengthened two or four counts. Finally Dr. Muhammad receives the phone calls of the viewers to correct their recitation.

Enjoy watching this interesting talk with Dr. Muhammad Salah to know new rules of tajweed.
