Correct Your Recitation (77)

Learn how to correct your recitation of the Qur’an:

Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites the full surahs of Ad-Duha (Morning Bright), Ash-Sharh, and At-Teen. Surat Ad-Duha is the 93th chapter of the Qur’an with eleven verses. It is one of the first surahs that were revealed in Makkah. It is the second surah revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) after Surat Al-`Alaq. It commences with many oaths sworn on astronomical phenomena such as morning, night, etc. The main theme of the surah is to remove the anxiety and distress that caused to the Prophet (peace be upon him) by the suspension of revelation.

As usual Dr. Muhammad Salah begins his talk by reflecting on the verses of the surahs to ease their understanding for viewers. After that, Dr. Muhammad explains some new rules of tajweed (rulings of recitation) regarding madd (lengthening). The required attached madd occurs when a hamzah follows a madd letter in the same word. It should be lengthened four or five counts. Finally Dr. Muhammad receives the phone calls of the viewers to correct their recitation.

Enjoy watching this interesting talk with Dr. Muhammad Salah to know new rules of tajweed.
