The Name Ar-Raheem 

He is Allah , the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (Al-Hashr 59:27)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise; and Allah is witr (one) and loves ‘the witr‘ (i.e., odd numbers).” (Al-Bukhari)

Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues his commentary on the Beautiful Names of Allah.  The verb ‘rahima’ means to help somebody without expecting anything in return. Abu Hurairah reported: I heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: “Allah created mercy in one hundred parts and He retained with Him ninety-nine parts, and He has sent down upon the earth one part, and it is because of this one part that there is mutual love among the creation so much so that the animal lifts up its hoof from its young one, fearing that it might harm it.” (Muslim)
