Al-Wadud 

He is Allah , the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (Al-Hashr 59:27)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise; and Allah is witr (one) and loves ‘the witr‘ (i.e., odd numbers).” (Al-Bukhari)

Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues his commentary on the Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah Almighty. He explains the concept of ‘Al-Wadud’ and its derivatives which have been mentioned in the Qur’an. The name As-Salam has different meanings  as follows:

• The One who loves, the One who is the source of all love and loving-kindness.
• The One Love, the One who is most affectionate, the Beloved.
• The One who is deserving of all love and affection. The One who is the goal of the highest love.

Then, Dr. Yasir mentions the difference between the roots ‘Mahabah’ and ‘Mawadah’.
