Welcome to a new interesting series entitled “Qur’an: The Eternal Challenge” through the lens of the late Sheikh Muhammad Draz (one of the late famous scholars of Al-Azhar) in his book “An-Naba’ Al-`Aẓim”. These episodes were delivered by Sheikh Sohaib Saeed at Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt.
In the first episode entitled “What is the Qur’an”, Sheikh Sohaib begins his talk by mentioning in brief the biography of the author of the book, Sheikh Muhammad Draz. Then, he talks in detail about the famous names of the Qur’an.
The Qur’an is meant to be recited and written. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite the Qur’an during the prayer and other gatherings, the companions would learn it with their hearts and also would wrote it down. In such way, the Qur’an was preserved till today.
The Qur’an is made easy to be recited and to be memorized even to the young children. The Almighty Allah says:
And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (Al-Qamar 54:17)
One of the great aspects of the Qur’an is that it leads to the guidance. The Almighty Allah says:
Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable… (Al-Israa’ 17:9)
Another aspect is that we are commanded to recite it during our prayer. The Almighty Allah says:
… recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’an… (Al-Muzzammil 73:23)
Enjoy watching this talk with Sheikh Sohaib Saeed to learn more about the Qur’an and its aspects.
